Since 1889, the foundation of the Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) in the second largest city, Hamburg, it has been one of the leading medical center in Europe. As one of the largest hospitals in Hamburg, it consists of 13 centers and over 80 clinics and institutes.
